Electronically Captured Patient Signatures
Patient signatures are captured on a signing device or a mobile tablet supporting e-signature capabilities and are applied to the eForms. The e-signed documents are routed directly to the electronic medical record, accelerating the archival process.
Electronic Signature at Registration
The eForms are then displayed on a secondary monitor making it easy for patients to read and understand the forms they are required to sign. Patients apply their signature on a signing device similar to those found at retail store checkout stations. The signature is displayed on the FormFast eForm in realtime, giving the patient confidence that their consent is being properly recorded.
In addition to signature capture, FormFast also supports other types of annotation, including checkboxes and fillable fields, as part of the electronic signature solution. Once the documents are electronically signed, FormFast marries the signature and other annotations to the form image, creating a legally signed electronic document.
FormFast then sends the document to the electronic medical record or archiving system, along with the data necessary to place the document in the proper archive location.
Electronic Signature at Bedside
In conjunction with FormFast’s integrated eForms library solution, staff can choose to display eForms for patient consent on-demand. Information from the HIS system is passed to the FormFast system, displaying an active patient list and a list of approved eForms. Staff simply choose a patient, choose a form or group of forms, and click the sign button to produce a packet of electronic forms to be e-signed, complete with patient demographics digitally imprinted.
The FormFast electronic signature solution can be displayed on a variety of mobile devices, including those operating on Apple, Android, and Windows platforms, via HTML5 support. Due to the portability and light weight of these devices, mobile eSignature allows patient signatures to be collectetd at the bedside in a way that is more comfortable for the patient than other methods.
As with the admissions process, once the electronic forms have been signed, they are instantly archived in the EMR, eliminating the need for manual scanning by hospital staff. This ensures signed documents are immediately present in the correct location in the patient record, improving compliance.
